Feeling very disappointed with Bluesky so far...

- curve-balled by random "interests" quiz at the start
- daily follows by folks with those "interests" I'm not interested in

I tried Threads for quite some time to replicate my old Twitter Feed but the recommendations always were off. Here on Bluesky I felt like home immediately. I cannot talk about engagement as I was never really posting something.

What I hoped from Twitter but never really got was a way to keep in loose contact with (mainly professional) folks I found interesting, either online or IRL; a kind of meeting of minds, intellectual stimulation you generally don't get on facebook but so far, it feels more like a silent disco 😕

Yeah I totally get the point of silent disco. Maybe it needs a bit more time. I have the feeling it has quite some momentum and the potential is there

Bluesky needs to do better though, and to be fair to Elon, when Dorsey had the chance, he didn't have the vision or balls to capitalise on it, and wasted the bloated resources he had.

I mean, what were they doing for all those years, and for all those complaints?

I mean you can question the priorities for sure. But I think without the momentum of a X-odus it is hard to convince a critical mass to make the move. But they could have positioned them better for such a case. Threads got strong in the meantime. For better or worse.

Twitter is like swimming in an empty ocean now. And here are so many users here with no posts, so I assume the whole thing is mainly algorithmic; surely this is the problem they promised to solve? Where are the interesting conversations? Where is the engagement?

I have never been on Twitter, didn't feel right. This is the first time I think I will give the public social network a try.
It's getting more and more interesting here. I think people need some time to settle.
It's there a Claude AI feed somewhere?
