The best part is, they still made a profit! They just didn't make enough of a profit for their hedge fund shareholders. "I only got kind of rich instead of really rich this quarter, so thousands of people need to find a new job."

In my market/region (the northeast) it totally makes sense. There are too many stores, with each having a high expense overhead. Autozone is in a similar position here as well and would do well to take note

There’s an Advance near me, but I just never think to shop there. AutoZone and O’Reilly are just so much more visible.

Generally has much better stuff than Autozone though. Although I just generally use NAPA and RockAuto unless I’m in a pinch.

I drive a 20 year old Chevy Colorado with 250k miles on it. I've bought oil, filters, 4 batteries, an alternator, tires and brakes, in 20 years. Stuff doesn't break or wear out like it used to.

We know that Rock Auto is pretty good for planned projects.

https://Carparts.com has made significant warehouse/logistics investments as well.

And Amazon is always a threat, especially if they have same day stocking/delivery.

Lots and lots of competition, higher costs, and car tech that takes more expertise. My AAP is nice, but if I want to do a transmission fluid flush and fill I have to go online anyway.

Unfortunate. I started using Advance a little more often because their staff is a little less "weird," and their stores are usually a little cleaner.
