When the press is silenced, democracy is the first casualty. The dismantling of Voice of America undercuts a vital source of truth in a world where misinformation thrives. The echoes of censorship grow louder. #3E

Unfortunately this is so very true. The rest of the media outlets out there are talking about the wrong topics or not asking the right questions which makes getting the right information hard for people that want to be properly informed.
VoA is actually a propaganda channel, first and foremost. When countering evil and lies, the truth is the best propaganda. But let's not fool ourselves, VoA won't report on shady CIA coups etc.
A government cutting off funding to any media outlet is alarming. Critical thinking thrives on diverse media perspectives, which provide a balanced view. It’s not about one outlet; it’s about defending press freedom and the necessity of plurality for clarity. #3E
To be fair journalism is this country has been dying for 40 years, replaced by cable news pundits and squalk-box talking heads that are entirely politicized.
The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When we let it slip away. When it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.
What's worse is that control of the media with the widest reach by those driven by profit motives have put a thumb on the scales in favor of those who censor them. We need them, but their complicity makes them so hard to defend.
Yeah, or FB taking 5 minutes before my post appears. I did discover a way around that. Post a word or two, so that it posts quickly. Then go back and edit it. Your edited version is instantly reposted without the 5 minute wait.
