Bought it so I could review it for work since they didn’t send codes to press for reasons that have become very obvious to me now. I had a great time though. I love playing bad games.
When a lot of games are trying to be cinematic, their aim is to be a very specific kind of blockbuster. Star Wars, Marvel, etc. I kind of respect that this game’s ambitions are to be, like, The Marine 2.
I just did a side mission where it’s like “this is what it’s like to be a criminal” and suddenly you’re just in a sequence where you are shooting cops with a shotgun and saying “IN IT TO WIN IT!” with no set up or explanation.
I saw dunkey streaming it, and I was like "this actually looks pretty cool?" Idk I like the premise writ large of the military putting neuralinks in soldiers and what the aftereffects of that would be, v good scenario for a dystopic game. but also uh it doesn't seem like they landed the plane
There’s an idea there in its b-movie goofiness, but I can not adequately describe how poorly every single aspect of it actually plays. 90% of the game is driving a very long distance through an empty city to get to the next cutscene.
I did another side mission (which were presented as you living other people’s memories) where I had to go blow up a bunch of “gangbangers” cars. I died because a car drove through another car and ran over me. When it ended, my character said “these are real people’s experiences.”
90% of this game is driving a very long distance through the same empty city to get to the next objective, which is often like a 1 minute shootout, and then you drive back.
