Mario Kart World is the kind of game that reviewers describe as “rip-roaring fun” And it is! The open world stuff has not impressed me at all, but the core racing experience is as good as it’s ever been, maybe better? I’m no Kart Enthusiast, but yeah. It’s a good time. It’s a rip-roaring ass game.

Not only is Ben Starr doing the voice of Dycedarg, they're bringing in Cody Christian and Briana White too!? I didn't even need voiceover work for this, but fuck it!

Final Fantasy Tactics GOTY 2025 I'm excited for this for selfish reasons, but also because there are so many people who will get to experience this for the first time now.

Me when I hear somebody start a sentence with “Final Fantasy Tactics isn’t even -“

I can't wait to call Mario Kart World "the Breath of the Wild of Mario Kart" just so I can watch people get mad

June #promosky I'm a former video game critic who surprisingly hasn't lost his love for video games. - Hidden gems - Hidden kusoge - RPGs - Shmups - Arcade stuff - The classics - Games that are a bit like The Legend of Zelda - Occasionally something made after the year 2000. #retrogaming

The rush of beating bosses in Nightreign might be even stronger than in most Souls games. You have to hope you've got a good team, hope you get good drops, maximize time to lvl up as much as you can, and then beat the boss after a 30+ minute run. It's an even more involved buildup to that moment.

Early impressions of Elden Ring Nightreign: It's bizarre, but it works. Not only that, but it's got bona fide FromSoftware moments you might expect from their mainline single player games, as a little treat. It's super interesting, and after 5 hours it got its hooks in me. Excited to play more.

Despite it being a 3 player co-op experience, Nightreign is fucking hard. Granted, I’m still very much getting the hang of things, and I’m playing with random people via matchmaking, but the first major boss has been a brick wall for every group I’ve been in so far.

Many of you

Finally got around to playing Black Mesa, the Source engine remake of Half-Life 1 that took nearly 15 years to release. Overall was really impressed by it! A nice reminder of how incredible the original game was. Still one of the absolute best FPS single player campaigns ever, Xen and all.

Could be a lot worse than A24 and a lot worse than Alex Garland…but how in the hell do you translate the Fromsoft experience to film. I just can’t see it.

One week until Elden Ring: Nightreign... And then one week after that until the Switch 2...

Been checking out the Advance Wars remake for Switch. Loved the original on the Gameboy Advance, and while I'm not a fan of the aesthetic changes in the remake, it's still a really good time. Surprising level of strategy in such a deceptively simple game.
