They are called point defense systems and they are already in place to shoot down cruise missiles on US Navy ships, with very sophisticated command and control (the AEGIS system)

Well, it is; because point defense systems operate rather cheaply compared to say, missile interceptors which can have interdiction costs in the millions to stop a single attack.

yes but for a base to fight against a swarm won't a lot of them be needed? And being equipped with RADAR, doesn't that also make them expensive? I am sure that future tech can solve this given the slow speed of drones, but at the moment it seems like it would be expensive.

The systems themselves are not cheap but the more important consideration is that the cost of running them is fairly inexpensive.

Missile interceptors that shoot down other missiles are much more expensive than bullets.

Swarm attacks on large assets have been a thing since the 1890s. Cheap and mass producible torpedo boats became a very real threat to late Victorian battle fleets, hence the introduction of the relatively small and fast "torpedo boat destroyer" aka "destroyers"
