Second largest auto company in the world. Volkswagen, along with subsidiaries SEAT, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Audi, Bugatti, all popular in their segments. Not only is it not all about the U.S. market, but the U.S. market will be a diminishing factor in the worldwide auto trade.

Having lived in Europe for a few years and rented sorts of great small cars, it’s really frustrating not to have those choices here. I would think a small, cheaper EV could do well here. Bit maybe I’m wrong.

I sure do wonder if there are any vehicle manufacturers with a model under 30k that hasn't incorporated theories of planned obsolescence into every model available. I'm a bit of a VW loyalist for gpm/hp but I'm looking for an early/late 90s aftermarket rebuild for anything I care to own these days.

yes kinda, but idt VW can make small EVs good enough to not be a Fiat 500e vs Chevy Equinox EV situation. Whatever they could bring (not sedan or hatchback) isn't gonna make 300mi EPA, which they've correctly identified is a dealbreaker (unfortunate). Only 2 hybrids in 'a few' years is pathetic too

The US has proven they don’t sell. It’s a crazy culture here. The Honda Fit was a great car, not enough sales to overcome smaller profit margins. Until consumers STOP buying $60k+ giant SUVs we will have bad options

I have one, yes. But the Bolt is estimated to have lost GM $9k per vehicle and the platform was old and had a costly battery recall. Fortunately they announced plans for a new version right? The Equinox is pretty good value too last I checked. It isn't just about sales, profits too.

75% of auto sales in the US are trucks and SUV's. And the switch to electric vehicles isn't taking off like planned bc there aren't enough charging ports. Biden's plan to build more charging ports only installed like 35,000 of them. China added millions of ports in like 3 years.
