i think there’s a real issue with how dumb angry and ignorant people are now i’m starting to hear bush-era talking points about hybrids again “when the battery dies at 20,000 miles it’s $40,000 to fix!” these people know better and we gotta stop giving them grace

Here is a rundown of exactly how the GOP proposal would change every clean energy tax credit. While it looks like a bunch of nips and tucks, it's probably more akin to a full repeal. More analysis from us to come. heatmap.news/politics/way...

it's so weird how quickly these entities just sort of kowtowed to all this corruption BS I do not have high hopes for the future of the USA

stop/start on hybrids is great. i dont understand why this damn admin latches on to these weirdo culture war things. it was really nice walking around china and traffic is whisper quiet because most cars are PHEV or EV

You know, i’d didn’t have much to say about this thing but people really love the RAV4, and a week with a hybrid one made me understand why. Even if it’s not my cup of tea. insideevs.com/reviews/7593...

Many brands were missing, and debuts were down. But, of the cars that were there, brands focused on improvement, and less on speed. I think the brands themselves are pivoting to a more deliberate, methodical, and traditional way of staying competitive. insideevs.com/features/759...

China's EV sector is way ahead of the rest of the world. That's no secret. So where does it go next? @gaytonausa.bsky.social writes that the game is evolution, not revolution—mostly. Here's what to expect: insideevs.com/features/759...

Coming soon at @insideevs.com — while in China, I got some driving time with one of China’s best selling EVs; the BYD Seagull. This facelifted model comes with BYD’s new “God’s Eye” driver assistance software. This top of the line example would be about $11,800.

Racism is America’s kryptonite. It breeds complacency and a loser mindset. It’s always another group’s fault America is failing. Cry and whine about “cheating” to duck ownership of their own deficiencies and dumb undisciplined choices. Demand self esteem points with cheap talk. Stunted worldview.

does this answer your question? It’s def shorter than a Fit, but it’s about 2” longer than the old Chevy Spark EV, but the wheelbase on the Seagull is 5” longer.

It was this. (BYD Seagull — facelift) what do you wanna know?

In the United States it would be 5-6 inches shorter than the Buick Envista, which a lot would consider a “small” car. Much of the Z20 would be considered “small” here but I am aware that the extra length would likely place it above the EX30 in a lot of markets.

we let these grifters run the gamut of everything in america and we are getting exactly what we deserve

forgot i had this scheduled, but i’m feeling it

Lucid Air.

with that said, I also don’t think Chinese brand performance in EU or AUS is a bellweather for potential U.S. expansion our markets are way different. we have more money and we’re far more open to new brands (see: Lexus and Genesis performance in US vs everywhere else)

since i can’t sleep because my body clock is still kind on china time: I think all of the EVs on the U.S. market under $50,000 are easily outdone which is why these OEMs are happy to couple up to trump because i think they know that

case in point: these two cars are the same price in china. (EV lynk & Co Z20, china market ICE Buick envista)

one of my biggest takeaways from this most recent china trip is that american cars are really fucking joyless

Plenty of cars sold in the US are cheaper (or more expensive) in foreign markets. Sometimes it due to different standards or missing/added equipment. sometimes currency exchange rates etc…

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

chinese evs are cheap but i think we also have to remember even ICE/hybrid cars aren’t always a 1 to 1 with their european or american counterparts. A Corolla hybrid sedan is only like 16-17k USD in china. It is 24k here in the USA.

I drove a lot of cars in China, and the Lynk & Co Z20 is one of my faves. It’s like a Volvo EX30, but way better. insideevs.com/reviews/7586...

i know i’ve only been back in the U.S. for a few hours but i don’t remember food being this expensive

since i can’t have a real one

average american versus average chinese citizen:

thinking about how i drove like 5 Tesla competitors in china that would have literally stolen all of his clients if they existed here this man does not realize how good he has it and how he and his brand is on thin ice

some of y’all say “chinese owned” like a cuss word

finally on my way back home from china and i just remembered that i have bananas on my counter that i bought on April 15th

This is the BYD Sealion 05 EV. Yes, the name may be a little confusing, but this Hyundai Kona Electric sized EV can be had for under $19,000 USD in China.

once again it’s surreal to read shit like this in China i am convinced that most of the leaders in our institutions aren’t smart or sane anymore
