someone asked me yesterday if i thought the political press had learned any lessons from the previous years for covering Trump and not only was my answer “no” but i think they’ve gotten even worse. more solipsistic, more obsessed with theater criticism, more willing to be manipulated.

It’s a shame, because along with the presidency comes the power to impose this kind of impunity, rather than to simply demand it, and the consequences for the country and the world could be ruinous. www.offmessage.net/p/trump-lets...

I'm so sick of this.
Bullshit. We *need* you to be biased when a party is going full fascist, publicly and proudly proclaiming racist crap like this. It's not "fair and balanced." It's deceptive and harmful.
People NEED to be informed as to what this *means*.
Covering up dirt to "both-sides" everything is actual bias. Reporting that Trump is a criminal would not be.
A lot of fascism works that way. It's all about tough-sounding policies that only work in fantasies.
Yellow journalism is back in style, like oligarchs, and gilded Tammany politics.
American democracy isn't working.
Since then they’ve actually fully or partially retconned many things - Charlottesville, J6, horrid covid response, etc.
Makes me wonder if even he knows coverage choices are working in his favor and doesn't want to shift the tone.
