There’s an never ending argument on my neighborhood NextDoor caused by one woman’s insistence that a local mom-n-pop diner called “Jim Denny’s Restaurant” is part of a multinational franchise
There's a side to it that's sort of like, yes being disabled makes you more vulnerable to inflation because more of your basic existence is reliant on the remunerated labor of others and structural inflation is usually due to an increase in wages, meaning you bear most of the cost increase.
But even so (and speaking as one such disabled person) it's simply not the case that you should be attacking _inflation_ so much as the _lack of adequate healthcare funding_. There is a choice and complaining about inflation is the wrong one.
Yeah. And the “unspecified” part is key. I don’t deny that some people, somewhere, live with disabilities that specifically require delivery of fast food. But people with disabilities lived independently long before DoorDash, and the vast majority order it for the same reasons as anyone else.
We need a publicly owned and operated food delivery service. The USPS can serve as a viable model. Really in the year 2024 it's a basic utility like water and power.
