It's bad in the NFL but it's good in the CFP. In the NFL each team plays 45% of the other teams, and 3 teams twice; there's lots of overlap. In college football, teams play 9% of the other teams, the schedules have little overlap

Sorry, to clarify, NFL should just seed by record and include div champs because teams play enough other teams to know who's best. CFB teams don't play enough other teams to know who's best, so seeding conf champs is good since they at least proved they are best in their conf

That's my bad. I read what you wrote wrong. Saying that, I'm fine with it in the NFL. If we're going to go to the trouble of having divisions, we might as well reward teams for winning them.

Dumb seeding process, IMO of course. The NFL shouldn’t reward a conference champion with a home game if their opponent has a better record/conference record.
