You're one accident, fall or illness away from being disabled. Again, some of y'all vote like nothing will never happen to you, your kids or future grandkids...

Couldn't agree more. I just don't understand the utter lack of empathy and foresight that some of my neighbors have. They will only ever give a shit until it actually happens to them. You can see this most clearly in the gun control debate.
I became disabled at 30!!! I was a single mom of 2 & had finally "found my lane", my joy in a job as a veterinary tech. I had a plan & was on track to succeed & then BAM💥...chronic pain. Fibromyalgia fvcking sucks & there is NO cure or real effort to help those on it. Idk what my future holds now...
To ableds from a recently disabled: I am not disabled... You are just temporarily abled. One day, something will take you down. Then watch how the world treats you...
on this note, Christopher Reeve was an avid equestrian, yet he fell from his horse and became a quadriplegic, leaving him permanently paralyzed from the chest down.
it just goes to prove that it can happen to anyone and ruin your life forever.
It happened to my son at age 39, riding home from work on his bicycle. A hit-n-run driver left him in a crumpled heap on the side of the street. His broken legs, cracked vertebra, punctured lung, and road rash healed, mostly, but his helmet did not prevent traumatic brain injury. TBI is forever.
I used to go on 20-mile hikes. Now I struggle to walk 20 feet (arthritis) and regularly cry because of the pain. I am now terrified that if I get laid off (a real possibility thanks to T*****) I will not be able to afford the surgeries I need to survive. No one needs this kind of stress.

Whether there's people who will care for you when this happens is up to you, now.
I certainly didn't plan on being disabled by my 40's but my conscience doesn't hurt.

Similar to TBI ; prefrontal lobe activity is diminished
