Had a part in an opera written by David Thomas of Pere Ubu, along with Frank Black, Syd Straw, and Van Dyke Parks, which is a bizarre combination of names
Oh, I've never seen that image; gonna go search for it, I'd love to see that. Didn't know any of this about him, I just loved him because of Cheers and House (1985). Wish me luck, will post if found!
that could be what I was remembering - at first I thought he actually wore it on a talk ahow and then i was thinking it was the during the end of show goodbye on SNL but maybe it makes sense it was this letterman thing and then obv it just stuck in my head
He did a cover of a song by one of my favorite bands that no one has ever heard of. Him doing a cover of a House of Freaks song was pretty amazing. https://youtu.be/B92w9riJing?si=1LmQTZwbCO8gTdSK
Years ago, I crossed paths with him at Rocky Sullivan’s in New York when we were both there to see Seanchai & The Unity Squad - an impossible to categorize Irish ska/punk/hip hop offshoot of Black 47. He was really into it. 🤘
When he was in NYC for one of the John Waters musicals (Hairspray I think) I'd see him at shows a lot. I remember drinking beer with him on back to back nights at Black 47 and Richard Lloyd. Awesome guy.
