Guns have been part of Forgotten Realms since 2nd Edition Forgotten Realms Adventures (1990). Fantasy gun haters BTFO.

I'mma be real the gun argument is actually frying my brain. I hate how much D&D and the rpgs based off of it have tried to scrub guns out of the fantasy tech level.

Alkenstar rules so much.
Hell, now I'm even making a game around muzzle loaders.
Guy was also a transphob, so after I slowly quite quit him from the table, I now put guns in every fantasy setting I have out of pure spite 😁
i like pf1e for having guns hit touch AC but require close range, which is a great wrinkle mechanically and flavor-ly
You had to make a device like something an Artificer would build in order to have a decent firearm until the flintlock came about. Aztec armor could stop 16th century musket rounds better than spanish plate armor.
I love pathfinder because of the characters that the overlap of its setting and rules let you create.
Some Knights had guns. On horseback. That's sick!
You could wear plate armour while wielding a gun, holding a dachshund, and eating a sandwich in DnD and the sliced bread would be the most anachronistic part of the whole scene!
If you can shoot a heavy crossbow every round, a gun is fine
But there was one unit in the mercenary faction that was a bunch of dwarven pirates, and they didn't have to reload because they just had A BUNCH OF EXTRA PISTOLS LOADED AND READY TO FIRE
But hey im not a huge fan of Renaissance firearms in dnd. I think it should be like 1500's at the latest.
I mean if I was running a tabletop thing and that happened I'd be treating it as a fuckin bard the bowman moment really
