Is this really a big library? I live in a suburb of NYC, and I never heard of an individual checking out so many books. You would think they would check out a person's credentials. Sounds like they need to reexamine their policy.

They are a CCPL branch, so yes, big library. It's not an unusual or unreasonable limit at all. Homeschool parents hit it all the time. Libraries don't have credentials because they are not the book police. Their job is providing access to information.
Please don't lecture me about "book police" and what a library's job is. I've been a regular patron for years. I meant credentials showing you are an educator. We don't have a lot of home schooling around here so can't comment on that.
I'm a librarian, ma'am; you asked a question in a public forum, and I'm providing you an informed answer. Public library patrons getting different checkout privileges based on how they supposedly intend to use resources would be a form of censorship, and an undue burden on us, and it's not our job.
