In his annual report, Chief Justice Roberts decries the politicization of the court by others. Yet, his sole admonition to the judiciary itself comes in the second to last paragraph.

When they overstepped their bounds concerning abortion they lost all their credibility with the public they’re lucky they don’t have to run for re-election like state judges do maybe they should at least they know who where the public stands
successful GOP co-operation, what a lying shxt we've learned Roberts truly is, a nouveaux Plessy-Ferguson is coming next yr, wait for it (it's OK if states discriminate, not our business what states do to specific non-white American citizens we don't care about)
Terrible Roberts court decisions, partc5:
AT&T Mobility v. Conception (2011): Limits consumers right to file class action lawsuits against corporations.
Shelby County v. Holder (2013): The court gutted the Voting Rights Act.
Terrible Roberts court decisions, part 3:
District of Columbia v. Heller (2008): Declaring for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms.
Citizens United v. FEC (2010): Green Light to purchase Congress and the Presidency.
Terrible Roberts court decisions, part 2:
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022): Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey are overruled.
Rucho v. Common Cause (2019): Supported gerrymandering.
The skill of really smart lawyers (and Roberts was one) is finding a way to argue either side of any issue. So if the billionaires want the Constitution to be interpreted to give them the power over non-billionaires, Roberts, et al. will somehow find it in the Constitution.
What abject hypocrisy. Adjudged by many Constitutional scholars as a corrupt SCOTUS and then come out with this. The only path to redemption would be to resign or reverse some terrible rulings.
From the Annual Hen House report, we present Justice Fox:
"Let's not eat anymore chickens this year, especially you folks over in the circuit courts side of things..."
Screw that, the courts must be expanded and SCOTUS judges must be held liable for their conflicts of interest and their corrupt behavior. No immunity for judges or politicians.
The question is whether they'll use the word "mandate" to describe what comes out of this closely-divided Congress in June 2026, or find a reason to "cooperate" with the supposed mandate even sooner.
Mr. Roberts Presides over the most unethical, vile, corrupt court in decades, decision.after decision, citizens united, one of many have been against the people, and for the corporate interest. That is why the maga 6 SC is looked upon with contempt.
What he decries is the result of them not wanting a Standard of Ethics that hold them to account & have severe consequences when the justices leave the path of the virtues that govern justice.
More worried about stuffing their back pockets with moolah and receiving expensive presents and gifts.
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social While you want to know what we're so angry about...
Biden ran on fixing this problem. Nobody has done anything but enable it for 4 years. You wrote a report. A report.

The man solely responsible for allowing settle precedent to be ignored, judgements to be based on religious bias, and corruption in his court to flourish . History is watching.
John Roberts is the clown who will always be remembered for being the most corrupt CJ ever, sitting on the most corrupt SCOTUS in the history of the country
The Court is broken thusly the system is broken. Looking the other way will not repair it. By the time we actually get around to fixing it disaster, chaos and calamity will have taken us down.
“…maintaining a healthy respect for the work of elected officials on behalf of the people they represent.” The monied elite that pay for your mother’s home or the exotic vacations on luxury yachts. Sure, Roberts you POS.
Hey remember when he milked the clock for six months before deciding presidents can just do whatever they want as long as they can claim executive privilege all for the benefit of one president?
I hope 3 of the 4 female justices aren’t accepting homemade treats from Mrs Alito or Mrs Thomas over the holidays.
Those justices need food tasters and bubble wrap for at least 4 years to stay protected from their colleagues
Roberts knows what’s coming from the court this term, and he has issued his warning. Don’t ignore us, and if you challenge our decisions judges should deny standing. No words for this joke of a court. This year is going to be bad.
A couple of decisions Trump doesn't agree with and he will close the court and sell the building . Oh and before anyone jumps on me please answer this . Who can stop him ?
trump cannot remove the 6 Libertarian Federalist judges & he won't. MAGA Libertarian Federalist Congress won't let trump if he even tried. Federalist Society won't let trump remove their judges.
His age and increasing dementia has a good chance of stopping him. He looks old and very tired. He doesn’t want the responsibility of president. He just wants to eat and take pictures. It’s the other flying monkeys that are concerning…
“With an eye toward” implies consideration or awareness of something, but not necessarily as focus. Roberts suggests keeping something in mind rather than structuring actual guidelines. The arrogance is astounding.
Roberts will go down in History for selling out the soul of the Supreme Court.
They literally gave Trump
A green light to destroy the Constitutional Republic we have worked so hard for.
Do you think John Roberts grew up and went to law school and set personal life goals that included: “I want to be the person who helps make the next Hitler possible and also makes it possible for a rich egomaniac immigrant to buy the US”? If so, he can check those boxes off.
Roberts is one of worst CJs ever. His comments are self-serving and tone-deaf. His leadership and the majority’s constitutionally and ethically unsupportable rulings have destroyed the credibility of this Court and the effectiveness of the third branch’s checks and balances role.
They have lit the constitution on fire creating their own laws. Guess what, we do not have to live under their rulings. We abide by the rule of law which our constitution states none is above it. So fuck them, the deal is off.
It astounds me that the individual presiding over the highest court in the nation, who is ostensibly the embodiment of the most profound knowledge, could exhibit such a profound disconnect and lack of empathy for the citizens of the United States.
At least several members of the Roberts court are so obviously corrupt, and he is unwilling to do anything about it, but he warns about threats to the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law. Shake my head.
He’s lost control of the radical and corrupt right wing of his own court. This is lip service at best to attempt to make his failed reign look like it wasn’t so bad and he was trying. He’s not.
Yes, and the whole piece is very oddly written, including that phrase. Like a sophomore essay, throwing together a few cliched clauses that say just about nothing. Is Roberts known as a sharp intellect by his peers? I don't know, but I wonder.
Roberts has been the weakest Chief Justice in American history. He has given every decision to corporations and the alt right. Citizens United is his terrible legacy.
Your Constitution didn’t either. Can’t understand why you love it so much. It is demonstrably defective, otherwise you would not be in this mess. Just when things were heading in the right direction too. So sad.
What about taking millions of dollars in freebies from people with financial interests in the court’s rulings? Roberts has no interest in fixing that. #$upremecourtfor$ale.
It's too late to "preserve" the public's confidence in the Court. If they would like to restore the public's confidence, one thing they could do is to stop taking bribes.
In other words, Chief Justice Roberts continues to vie with Chief Justice Roger Taney, author of the ghastly Dred Scott miscarriage of justice. for bottom of the barrel in the ethical and moral history of SCOTUS.
This baloney is absolute BS, toothless, meaningless, an insult to the American people.
Comments
Nobody takes him or his SCOTUS seriously.
Presidential immunity?
Bite me.
Roberts rivals Chief Justice Roger Taney as the absolute worst in the history of the U.S.A.
I'm so ashamed of what he has done/not done to protect and preserve that important institution. Sell out.
AT&T Mobility v. Conception (2011): Limits consumers right to file class action lawsuits against corporations.
Shelby County v. Holder (2013): The court gutted the Voting Rights Act.
District of Columbia v. Heller (2008): Declaring for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms.
Citizens United v. FEC (2010): Green Light to purchase Congress and the Presidency.
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022): Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey are overruled.
Rucho v. Common Cause (2019): Supported gerrymandering.
Kennedy v. Bremerton School District (2022): Gutting the Clean Air Act, part I.
West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (2022): Gutting the Clean Air Act, part II.
Vega v. Tekoh (2022): Gutted Miranda rights.
"Let's not eat anymore chickens this year, especially you folks over in the circuit courts side of things..."
So all of a sudden they care about over-reach and the courts staying out of things.
I hate this fuckin shit.
More worried about stuffing their back pockets with moolah and receiving expensive presents and gifts.
Biden ran on fixing this problem. Nobody has done anything but enable it for 4 years. You wrote a report. A report.
SCOTUS is compromised
Can't imagine why everyone thinks you're partisan John.
Those justices need food tasters and bubble wrap for at least 4 years to stay protected from their colleagues
They literally gave Trump
A green light to destroy the Constitutional Republic we have worked so hard for.
Hertitage, and Federalist may not officially be a political party, but they sure do own and control the republicans.
That should terrify the fuck out of everyone who sees the trump-musk collaboration as a national security threat.
What a pathetic embarrassment he is.
Where's the part of his report that says:
"Thou shalt not accept bribes from billionaires."
He’s so full of bullshit
Batshit crazy and pathetic
Protecting a criminal lunatic
The court should be a national treasure. He’s turned it into a national tragedy.
Roberts is a huge disappointment, from Citizens United, to today.
This baloney is absolute BS, toothless, meaningless, an insult to the American people.
I really had a hard time reading that in it's entirety through the tears of laughter...
In fact, I nearly had a hard stop after the first sentence.
😂😂
