I'm the child of a WW2 baby....which means my Mum was extremely focused on saving money (still is, bless her 😊) -
Make do and mend was a way of life.
I do wonder if these life skills are being lost to the next generation 🤔
We now have mobile phones, broadband and parking fees to pay but back in the 1940's you'd be handwashing clothes and making every meal from scratch (no convenience food)
We should be paid enough to live
Wherever possible:
Cycle instead of driving.
Own brands instead of branded.
Second-hand instead of new.
DIY instead of labour costs.
Deprive the rich & powerful, they have enough.
Working FT Single parent, high mortgage interest rate, car to get to work and my parents did child care. It was hard.
The trickle down bit is as much of a myth as a Brexshit unicorn or a principle that Starmer sticks to for longer than 5 minutes. Or that Farage is a man of the people and not a grifting wankspanner
It’s funny, they’re giving £64bn to Blackrock et al for Freeports and SEZs but McSweeney doesn’t want to overturn the 2-child limit because there’s not enough political capital in it.
