I don't understand these posts. Gyokeres was excellent. He was the best striker that we played so far this season. Starved of most service he still put in some dangerous runs, held the ball up as well as possible against Saliba and then beat Kiwior for pace with only Raya saving a sure goal.

Scoring is less important than creating top goal-scoring opportunities, which he did. I was very impressed and can definitely see how Gyokeres can succeed at the highest level in the Premier League. If he is a realistic option, he would be my first choice in the summer.

Gyokeres has qualities that we sorely lack. IMO, Isak does not. I also put myself in the head of a defender and I believe the vast majority would be far more concerned about the danger of Gyokeres as they prepare for a game.

Yes he hit the post, but some of his other shots landed on fans sitting far above the goal. His shots were speculative. That is why Sporting’s xG was less than 1. He exciting because he is different from the current players we have, but yesterday he did not have a good game.

He didn't hit the post. Raya's fingertips saved a sure goal onto the post. I want a striker who takes shots early and with power, like he did against Gabriel. Considering that Gyokeres was playing against the best CB partnership in the world, I thought he played very well.

I know you're joking, but I thought Gyokeres was excellent. He beat Gabriel for pace and took a dangerous shot and then beat Kiwior for pace and would have scored if Raya hadn't pushed it onto the post. He also held his own in the physical battle against Saliba....holding the ball up fairly well.
