It’s been sad but revealing to watch this entire cohort embrace things like opposition to birthright citizenship & right-wing character assassinations of academics these last several years. I guess it’s better to know who they really are, but it’s deeply ugly & unfortunate.

Man, what happened to him? The transformation from data/research-driven wunderkind who was going to change political/policy journalism to…young David Brooks?…it happened incredibly fast. At least with Douthat/etc. there was never any pretense at all 🤷♂️😬
