It's interesting that three different possible origins for the ubiquity of "Immigrant Song" (the Viking Kittens, Ragnarok, Reznor/Ross) have been cited here. Maybe it's just that it's simpler than "Stairway," and thus easier to fit into different contexts - or to put it another way, easier to meme.

It never gets dark during the summer, which probably qualifies. We were there in May this year, sunset was at 11pm and the sky was bright dusk until the sun came up again a couple of hours later.

Iceland is a gorgeous place having been there a few times, particularly the inland valleys between Hekla and Vatnajøkull. But - having grown up in Norway, midnight sun for me is when the sun is well over the horizon at 1 AM, and it's daylight not twilight.
