I love this. When I was growing up we had to very large pine trees. Every year a mother duck would lay and hatch babies. When ready she would walk them up the street to the pond. Nature is wonderful.

I once rescued a baby squirrel. I had to feed it special formula for two days until a wildlife rescue came to retrieve him. His eyes opened while I had him and he would lay in my palm and look at me.
He ended up at the local children’s museum in the indoor zoo where he was well cared for.

My dad did the same to save me from drowning once. I was a baby and had a life jacket on, so after I fell out of the boat I floated happily along until Dad jumped in the water (wallet in pocket, favorite sunglasses on face) and pulled me back on deck. Then I opened up like the floodgates of hell 😂

It's adorable and everything, but not to be a downer (heh heh) the ducklings would probably have been fine anyway. Many species nest high up to avoid predators, and a duckling's terminal velocity is very low. We do. I knew it when Ukrainian soldiers rescued, looked after, and kept cats and dogs with them in the war zones and kept them fed and safe. In towns, pet food was left out for the animals too.
