I only just realized this past weekend—after teaching this course for many, many years—that we actually had all of the tools we needed (namely summation notation, the sum-of-squares formula, end behavior of rational functions) to solve this problem that is normally relegated to Calculus classes.

And, as promised, it was a zero-tech adventure. Just 16 people, in a room, talking about problem-solving ideas, and using what they'd learned.

Anyway, it was great, and I will definitely be doing this at the end of every year of Algebra II Honors going forward.
