I remember at an AV conference many years ago seeing a presentation on AVs and liability, where one of the takeaways was increased inclination to sue an AV operator following a collision vs. another human driver.

A decade or so ago, before AVs were deployed in the field, I was talking to a prominent personal injury attorney about this and I could basically hear his brain making little cash register sound effects as he contemplated the legal implications of a driverless car killing someone.
