Are those laptops with the DVI ports? Don’t recall seeing that before - we went from VGA to HDMI (sometimes with miniDP which mostly got used with a VGA adapter)
The Titanium PowerBook (2001) was last portable Mac w/ VGA (though also had s-video). By 2004 all Apple notebooks had DVI-I or mini-DVI (both carry analog & came with VGA adapter), PowerBooks w/ s-video. Every MacBook 2008-present has had miniDisplayPort or thunderbolt.
I once tried to sort my hoard of cables. I had no idea how many different cables have been made. Even for just USB there are so many if you care about speed and power (and most have no useful speed markings).
