This has been the defining trait of my career over the last 20 years, working in tech. Everyone can see it now, because they’ve seen the corruption of the tech tycoons, but we had the first view of their venality, and watched as they ruined the lives of so many who raised the alarms about it.

as workers, we felt our ceo was a tech exception, and we tried to always remember users were human first.
but, of course, competition for revenue was fierce, the ceo "exited" because the stock price didn't skyrocket … and the rest …

I wouldn’t trust her further than I could throw her stupid aviators to still not be disclosing things she should.
You never saw three guys drop out Harvard and start a semiconductor company which was wildly successful in a few years. Semis are bounded by rules of physics. Design, test, packaging, and manufacturing process are very difficult. Masks are very expensive.
Exactly what did Microsoft do? Try to force people to use Internet Explorer? While we can all agree IE sucked, that hardly rises to the emotional manipulation of say Facebook.
