The problem with 1 is there is so much evidence to the contrary, be it in terms of socio-economics, health etc.

When you study the history you learn that Indigenous peoples were far more independent, enterprising and willing to do business on equal terms with the settlers than people today assume.

The problem with 2 is that if you believe that the land was taken by force then it was indeed taken unlawfully and Indigenous Peoples, who are still here, have every right to resist colonial rule and seek out their own independence.

On some level I have more respect for point 2 over 1 because it’s honest. It’s like saying “yeah, we’re the bad guy”.

What gets me isn’t that they wanna be the bad guy. It’s that they want to be the bad guy and at the same time they want to be seen as the good guy. You can’t have it both ways.

...did some work and trade with natives up around here, and because of that I'm part Native myself. Grandpa on the otherside had pictures of some full blooded dude, not sure how many greats back he is, but yeah.

In my defense when I came to Canada I thought I was just coming here to chill with the white people and had no idea what the hell was happening.

I still don't know what's happening but I'm used to the weather now and realize my home country is run by terrorists and I should probably not go back.
