As World Refugee Day approaches, a new Ipsos survey finds that public support for the right to seek asylum remains strong—even amid global instability and major aid cuts.

“There’s a clear disconnect between compassion and action,” says UNHCR’s @dominiquehcr.bsky.social . “The public still believes in the right to seek safety, but the economic backdrop and global political climate are eroding individual support."
67% of people across 29 countries still support the principle of offering refuge. Support is highest in Sweden, Argentina, the Netherlands and Australia.
Over 122 million are forcibly displaced today. The humanitarian system depends on a unified effort—governments, NGOs, private sector and public—to meet the rising needs.
