If a film can feature the stars of both The New Girl *and* Bones, and includes a scene where they make a cream sauce without being a vehicle to propel a male-centered narrative, it passes the Deschanel Béchamel Bechdel test.
I was not going to watch this but now that both you and Anna (two people whose intelligence and opinions I respect highly) have weighed in, I guess I’m gonna have to, dangit
ok but for real this movie was a fun watch, highly recommend for people (me) who like movies about (a) elections, (b) legal procedure, (c) Bravo-level interpersonal drama
That classified documents shit. Especially the part where they tried to flood the server room by draining the pool into it. But it would be more a comedy of errors than a thriller.
The best dark comedy would be the docs. Best slapstick is 100% Coffee County. Drama? B. The DOGE case would be a C- episode of Big Bang Theory, which makes it an F on a normal scale.
Well...the classified document heist has "that draining the pool into the computer room to destroy the security footage" scene—a nice update of the Rosemary Woods tape erasure technique...
Work them all in like a dateline murder confessional with cuts of Trump in an orange jumpsuit still slinging the same ridiculous stuff, but her emails witch hunt Biden lunatic left low iq illegals blah blah blah.
Final cut of President AOC accepting the election to her second term
Cue tears
I'm caught between (C) as a teen-comedy of errors (al la week end at Bernies) of the haplessness of hiding TOP Secret stuff around Mar-A-Lardo to defeat FBI & Subpoena!
or
(D) the Cat&Mouse thriller hijinks of DOGE evil minded criminals trying to outrun de Laws of the US on destruction spree!
(B) because it's the most widely rewritten history societally in need of righting (with the widest cast of coconspirators long overdue for pariah status)
At this point, I think it needs to be a series that covers all of it. At least from Trump's perspective, the decisions seem to have been made so capriciously that it could all fit in one product.
If I had to pick one, (A) Coffee County done as a farce.
honestly finding this exercise distasteful. normalizing by making it entertainment, isn't that an msm thing? if anything, a documentary, true crime, or a ken burns miniseries laying out ALL the high crimes and misdemeanors, ALL the grift, inhumanity and malice, and ALL the complicit enablers.
You sold me. I was contemplating watching but I'm not much into religion and I was afraid it would be too 'weedy', but you've made a compelling argument.
Conclave it is, for my afternoon watching. Thanks💐
For a movie in the (c) - Woody Allen's 70s flic
"Everything You Always ) to Know About Sex*
(*But Were Afraid to Ask")
I watched it in Toronto, pre Bravo on City TV's late, late Friday night "baby blue" movies
Burt Reynolds as a Sperm still makes me chuckle.
I keep coaxing friends to watch it--it's like a mystery and fast moving, which I didn't expect. But I tell them DON'T READ ANYTHING ahead of time. Every tv feature or written comment drops one development or another for NO EARTHLY REASON.
Thought it was a great movie. I like movies like this. There don't have to be car chases and people getting shot up. It's just a decent story with great actors. Plus, I'm a huge Ralph Fiennes fan.
Great movie! Very good look behind the scenes of the whole process (even if exaggerated or more dramatic than it actually is), but a worthy watch. Fantastic cast.
Maybe it is that dramatic...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I read in a piece by a Vatican scholar that when she saw the movie in a theater, she kept bursting out laughing at how *hilarious* it is. But she was the only person in the theater, apparently, who got all the jokes.
Tucci's character is very funny. But so are Ralph Fiennes' facial expressions.
It's a stunningly well-acted and well-directed and well-designed movie, and unfortunately the ending made me furious for reasons that'll be obvious if you look at my bio
I have ranted about it several times over the past couple months

( Of course the Nuns were bussed in to cook and clean for the Conclave!! )

CRYPTO-HOES, the selling of the Trump Crime family’s vapor “money”.
“By the 20th box he said just put the rest of them in the bathroom.”
A scene devoted to the boxes in the bathroom is something I need.

C would probably be a snooze I don't think there was much action

Most DEFINITELY not passing!

If that’s the case, I quit all Bezos crap when he kissed the ring.
