If you aren't nervous then your cocky! I worked in retail building computers for a few years and the amount of times I simply forgot to plug in front I/O is embarrassing.
Honestly, after a year of university hardware labs, nervousness at pressing the power button feels more like the sign of a professional, to me. They understand Murphy's Law better than anyone 🤭
Never forget to chant the hymn of activation and burn the proper holy incense. Anything less is an affront to the Holy Omnissiah and your cogitator's machine spirit.
It's always the innate fear that hitting that power button causes a loud pop or a very violent zzzzzzzzzt. Part of the brain knows that won't happen, but the other part thinks it will.
I mean I know how it all goes. Ports are keyed and such. So much would have to fail all at once for it to get even close to that. But the fear lurks like a little mosquito.
I once built a PC, triple-checked every single step, I was totally confident everything was fine for once...and the instant I pushed the power button, the CPU heatsink *fell off*. I have not known peace since.

I’ve rebuilt north of 5000 engines, and EVERY TIME I started one, I’d yell, “ITS ALIIIIIIVE!!”
😆
Not me triggering you or anything.
But that rush when it purrs into life....
