Gideon the Ninth was a fun read, but the follow-up Harrow the Ninth is such a disjointed slog to get through... like, scenes seem to randomly change without warning and I can't tell if a given chapter is meant to be a flashback or present time. I think I'm content to just give up on this one. 🙃 - ThreadSky

You're not supposed to understand at the start. There's a reason for that. A good one that will pay off. Just let yourself flow through the rest, accepting that you know nothing, until epiphany hits you like a brick to the face. This is a book that's great on the second readthrough!

I did the same the first time i read it. I loved Gideon the 9th then couldn't make it through Harrow for that exact same reason.

Funny enough i tried again via audiobook and it made it so much better for my brain because their voice was different for each part.

Honestly.... I just downloaded Libby, so I could borrow the audiobook but I literally bought the paperback version of Harrow ^^' I gotta put it to use!

the structure of the book serves a narrative purpose, the whole is it a flashback or not, is it real or not is to make you feel the same way harrow does, i don't know if it's for everyone but i would recommend pushing through until the third act where it all makes sens🙏
