0. Vought, Vance, Rufo, and those attacking academia see scientists as bureaucrats—in the most pejorative sense of the term—who they can "put into trauma" and drive to quit.
They don't understand that science is not just a job. It's a vocation, literally, in the original sense of *a calling*.

This is UNAMERICAN. This UNACCEPTABLE.
We must act. We must support those in fight for free speech, for science, for education.
It’s only because of ideology that they think those “traumatized” NIH scientists would find work in a garment sweatshop or as a non-existent IPhone screwer *and* that either of those jobs would be more “productive.”
The idiocy of ideology.

It doesn’t seem to matter to them that it’s morally correct, humane, or decent, they won’t do it

My Mom taught history to middle school kids, she EARNED her pension. Nobody cares less about history than 13-year-olds
to be a scientist is to embrace this 'trauma' because it's the only way to decode nature's secrets
others lack this understanding -- and this mission
to have never known the joy of discovery or invention
to have no accomplishments for the greater good of humanity
to have no special skills or insights that border on magic
that truly sucks
That's not something they can even conceive of.
