Yeah but it’s not just shielding *him*. It’s shielding everyone around him, so they don’t have to wonder if he can/will save them when they defy courts for him. They’re mounting a full frontal assault on the law. He’s attempting to extend a blanket of immunity to his minions, and they want that.
