I’d love to go back in shoulder season so that I could see/shoot the northern lights. Summertime midnight sun is way too bright to see any!

My favourites are September (for the long days but some darkness too and beautiful colours/fewer crowds) and February (for the ferocity of winter). September definitely an easier month to visit in!!

Reminds me of the joke that Greenland is icy and Iceland is green, but Iceland wants you to stay away and Greenland wants you to visit so they chose opposite names

The names certainly don't make a great deal of sense, although there is lots of ice in Iceland and lots of green grass in Greenland. Now I'm wondering what Eng is that this country of mine is named after...
