I grew up stating the MD first and also writing it that way in school.
It makes sense to me that you would write it the way you say it.
Ask a European their birthday or any date, holiday, whatever and they will most likely say the day first in my experience.
I always struggle with this online. But verbally I always say month, day and year. Example, July 10, 1959. I always use the old method. Let them figure it out.
