The CBO says any actual system could cost more than half a *trillion* dollars, spent over 20 years. Or, you could fully fund the National Cancer Institute until 2100.

One of the design flaws in this sort of thing is it not being testable absent actual missiles flying. Simulated testing ain't the same thing.

BTW: my first professional job back in the day: software tester.
