TV chatterbox Pete Hegseth doesn't suddenly become qualified to run the Department of Defense because he promises to be a *sober* incompetent person for the job.

He simply isn't qualified. It's not about credentials; it's about experience. He ran two small organizations into the ground, now he wants to be administrator of a 3 million-person organization? The booze and the womanizing are disqualifying as well, but not as much as simply NOT BEING QUALIFIED.
Also, one generally cannot simply *will away* substance use issues… So his promise alone is not enough…even if he was remotely competent to do the job.
A candidate to lead 3 Million people volunteers to be a civil human being trusted to stay sober on a job that works with life or death foreign & domestic issues.
This job like most, implies trust, decency & civility.
Volunteering to not drink on the job is not the own he thinks it is to any employer
Make him go through rehab first and see if he can stay sober for a year after.
Doubt he can.
And I certainly would not trust his promise to stay sober.
Just ask his prior two wives how he promised to be faithful during their wedding vowels. 🙄
Raise your hand if you’ve ever known an alcoholic that promised you they’d never drink again yet, never mention treatment or a program for sobriety?
🙋🏼♀️
Since when do you need to be sober to blast some bitches? And you really think Pete’s gonna pull out early just because someone complains??? We need a guy like him who doesn’t back down or takes no for an answer. MAGA 4 Life
Have these guys in the Senate ever had to deal with someone who is potentially an alcoholic? I know, I've been there and I have made so many promises which I failed to up keep until I finally got sober. But I got sober for me, not anybody else and definitely not for a job.
Agreed. Even if Hegseth could stick to not drinking, he is still wholly unqualified for so many reasons. And anyone who knows anything about substance abuse, knows that such promises are typically not kept unless the person goes through rehab - and even then it's a tough road.
That's where the U.S. is at now?! A loud-mouthed, misogynistic, woman abusing drunk just has to promise not to be drunk on the job....of.....you know making decisions that affect the safety & security of the Military and the Nation. FFS. How the mighty has fallen...and HARD!
If Pete gets as intoxicated as has been described at work events, I would not believe his pledge, even if he himself means it, with all of his heart. Grownups don't repeatedly get so drunk at work parties that co-workers have to drag them to their hotel rooms, unless they have a drinking problem
O.K. so I'll need some clarification...is it just that he won't drink during the confirmation hearings, he won't drink during the week or he won't drink ever. Lots of nuance in that. The guy can't pass a background check. Shouldn't be in charge of the janitor much less the military.

Just sayin. 😂

He meant he won't drink any less.
Oh, wait…
Also WTF? "I promise not to drink if you let me have the job"? Really? 🙄
I don't think so.
Go.

I have a degree in business, make me the CEO!
