Honestly, I think they don’t perfectly align on purpose. While they basically said all the lands between were once one landmass, they don’t want that to be some easy puzzle to put together, much like the lore.

So, uh, a thing people kinda forget here, is that the Lands Between are literally, diegetically terraformed. They're made. They're shaped like thatbecause someone put them there like that.

Same goes for the Land of Shadow.
