When the Labor Secretary says the factory jobs are jobs for life, and not just for your life but for your kids and grandkids lives, I'd say they've gotten pretty far away from any concept of the American Dream.
Manufacturers will bring manufacturing back when robots can do most of the work. We're already headed in that direction. And guess what? People won't get those jobs.
Robots to do the manual jobs, AI to do the white collar jobs. 1’ers to sit back and rake in the cash. Everyone else can fend for themselves. No money, no social security net, no medical care. Sounds like a dystopian science fiction story doesn’t it. Doesn’t it?
This isn't inherently contradictory. I mean, I think more Americans should become social workers and doctors and teachers, but I don't personally want to do any of those jobs.
I don't disagree, as party construction and function, but think some wear the label out of general ignorance. Maybe this is just a myth I tell myself. I would have said I was a Dem ages ago, but that's a very old me.
War.
Every war game the Pentagon does against China the US loses because it doesn't have a manufacturing base to resupply after the first round of battles.
Then why are police forces across the country overstocked on military surplus. Military production is a huge employer in Republican states, Reps pull strings to get those jobs in their districts
What portion of that 80% of Americans answered for that reason? And resupply of what? We don’t have to have iphones manufactured in the US for military preparedness. Munitions and aircraft are manufactured in the US and have strong supply lines with former allies like Canada and Mexico
I think America would be healthier with free prenatal checkups. I don't think my health would be better with free prenatal checkups - bc I'm not a fetus and I don't have a uterus.
This also applies to pretty much every other policy. Americans always think they personally will be the unique exception. It’s a disease in our individualistic society that led us to the shitty state we’re in now.

Lib and lefty people also balk at expensive domestic stuff.
We're all broken in a way, our emotional connections to consumable goods have all shifted.
Should people eat shit if trump says to? 97%
Would you? 23%
No foreign robots, right?

China produces almost half of all the ships on the planet, the US makes 0.2%
