Thank you for this! I tend to buy books I want to read so I can mark them up. I hadn’t thought to get a library card & use the library - both as acts of support for them, & as resistance to my local MAGA government. I’ll go to my library today, enjoy browsing books & thanking my local library staff.
incredibly dumb jokes aside tho, my local library has an insane amount of stuff available. they have a 3d printer!! you just need to take a training seminar and then you're good! libraries are cool!!
Any chance you know of a library that maybe is just starting out and needs a entire sci/fi fantasy section? I inherited a huge library and want them to be loved/read.
Thank you for supporting libraries! We’ve seen hard times in them with censorship, threats to staff, threats of financial cuts and closures. Hard times indeed 😢

There will be bleak days ahead and reading will allow us to take them in stride and continue to walk in beauty.
1. And for goodness sake, when a library says they need your state ID with a current county address, it doesn't mean an online pic of "you've updated your address" and no other info. 2. Driving 20 mins to the only library in the county is not a hardship when you moved here because of the low taxes.
I love my local library.
My book addiction would cost me a fortune if not for it's existence.
If I do end up buying a book not contained in their catalogue I always donate it to them so nice I have read it.
I take my daughter to the library once during the weekdays. Wife does the same on the weekend. They do a great story times and we’ll each check out ten books for her. (My home library provides me more than enough books.)
I've listened to audiobooks in the past. My current dilemma with them is calming my anxiety riddled mind enough to concentrate on being able to take them in.
What is Overdrive? I can Google, but share the knowledge here too.
My library card lets me check out audiobooks and e-books from overdrive.
They have an app (Libby) where you can manage/read/listen to books you have checked out.
public libraries are the best thing that ever happened. The idea that huge stores of knowledge is available to people just because they live in a community is amazing
Is it wrong to say I miss using the card catalogue to search for books? ☺️
Also, when I check something out from the Buda library I always ask them to stamp it. Getting the return date stamped in the book is a big part of the library experience. 😁
I have 2 library cards. One to the college library in the tiny town I live in, and I’ve to my county library system. I mostly use it for audio books from Libby and Hoopla, but love supporting libraries!
It’s such an important free tool. Even if folk don’t use it for books they have so many other resources. We utilize the libraries in Boston for free passes to the museums.
I live in California and make a point of visiting the libraries of any town I'm in. I currently have five library cards and am looking forward to adding to my collection. In addition to giving me access to the wonderful world of books, the cards themselves are often decorated with awesome graphics.
It's the craziest thing: I read a book and it magically put new ideas and perspectives in my head and I found out things that I was wrong about and it improved my own perceptions of the world. It's like it made me smarter than I was. Weird, huh?
Libby app user here. The greatest invention in the world. Great authors read their works to me for FREE while I do chores in the house, go for a walk or work in my garden.

Hopping over to the library to pick up a book when it’s available (they send it to my local library from any branch!) is a nice little treat.
some libraries get like, rosetta stone and stuff. libraries are cool!!!!

First time in at least 20 years.

Education makes the USA risings above.
So easy to search for what you want.
So many audio books (I listen to them on long drives).
So many ebooks (read on either kindle or libby).
