One of my neighbours is elderly and bedridden.

Every day, two carers turn up 4 or 5 times throughout the day without fail. Both of them are immigrants. Neither of them seems to have A Level English.

What will happen to her without them?

You have to wonder, at some point, if the intentional hollowing out of public services and expulsion of the labor they depend on is one of those disaster capitalism gambits to privatize without actually having to do so formally.

Just shrug and go, "What can you do? We don't have the workforce!"

While I agree that they are absolutely sabotaging public healthcare in order to privatise it, I would point out a lot of nurses and doctors in private healthcare are foreign born as well. This hate and bigotry Starmer and the like are whipping up will destroy both public and private healthcare.

Speaking as someone who works in private healthcare, it really is A LOT. We need foreign nurses, doctors and surgeons in this country and our healthcare system, both public and private, is fucked if they leave.
