Making a 🧵to pin: I am just a little guy. I survived gender conversion therapy at 17, almost 40 years ago, it took me until recently to be able to say "I'm not a woman" without getting extremely nauseous, and I am crying thinking that they keep doing it to every generation of us. Just let us be.

I really think that a lot of GCs believe that if they take away trans people's human rights that the motivation to transition will disappear. Not even just that if they make the world hostile for us we won't come out, but that if they make it hostile enough they'll "cure" dysphoria

The head of the UKs Equality and Human Rights Commission just said that the European Convention on Human Rights Article 8 right to privacy doesn't apply to trans people. Article 8 is why the UK was forced to create the gender recognition act by the European Court of human Rights in the first place.

1/🧵 Kisher Falkner, reading from her lawyer’s note, stated any trans-inclusive association that excludes cis people of one sex must split into two separate associations—one for cis people and one for trans people. Only then could they federate into one. This idea is creative, but utterly absurd.

This is born out by Falkner's claim during questions by the Women's and Equalities Committee that Article 8 - the right to privacy - does not apply to us. In future, when GCs say 'what rights don't you have?', we will be able to say 'the right to privacy' apparently.

In my view, the EHRC backtracked on its interim guidance/update when giving evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee. I now consider it is unreasonable not to offer an apology or withdraw the guidance, and I will write to the EHRC again to pursue further legal action.
