Agree, I think AGU attendance will be much smaller over the next 4+ years. Too much happening & very uncertain.

@andrewdessler.com I used to an AGU member when they still had a clear pro-science vision under Fred Spilhaus. They were good then.

Your current estimate could turn out as a quite optimistic number. Why would the average European (scientist) choose to travel >voluntary< to the US this year? There are also good places for discussing science in Europe and Asia. No need for AGU?

I agree, we’re going back to a time when some of the more impactful science research & discovery was done overseas.
