California sent 83 billion dollars more than it received back from the Federal Government in 2022. It's the Red States that are the takers in regards to Federal money. What Congressional Republicans and Trump are suggesting is called "extortion" tying disaster aid to doing what Trump wants.

California has almost the same population as all of Canada. I prefer the 3 west coast states joining together to secede and form a country with 52 million people. Then we can stop paying federal taxes, set up our own single payer healthcare, and have a democratic government.

Trump took office Jan 2017.. Hurricane Matthew happened in Oct 2016 and immediate needs were handled by FEMA under Obama.. Since long term needs can’t be assessed until after the fact Gov Cooper requested that additional funding and was denied by Trump & the GOP controlled Congress…🤷‍♀️

North Carolina still waiting for relief!!
Florida gets its disaster relief instantly—because nothing says urgent need like being a swing state, North Carolina waits patiently, because clearly disaster recovery is only a priority when it’s politically convenient. Truly, a shining example of fairness.

It look like NC got $1.65B from the Federal Government including $352.6M in quick relief for transportation. The new administration should make the proportionate amount of disaster relief to CA with NO STRINGS ATTACHED just as there were none for NC.
