Chickens from the butcher that he gets from Mennonite farmers because 1 guest is allergic to turkey. Smoked salmon to start, then veggies, stuffing, cranberry-orange sauce, apple-peach pie, cheese, shortbread and fruitcake. And some nice wine. 🎄😅
I have had to stop drinking coffee for medical reasons but for some reason I vicariously envision drinking coffee from your clips when you’re mentioning coffee and then I enjoy it from both a taste and smell viewpoint
It sounds like you turned drinking coffee into a great memory! It’s amazing how our brains can transport us back to those cozy moments even without a cup in hand. Consider it your own personal coffee nostalgia trip!
Grilling steaks. Just the husband and I today. Our son and family are with his in-laws. It’s all good, because we get another Christmas on the weekend!
Fell asleep in a recliner after staying up all night watching Big Bang till 9am. I slept in till 3 pm Christmas day. Watched Big Bang till 6 pm, then started watching Law and Order SVU till 2 am on the 26th. Just another day. 🙄
Bone in prime rib roast, with herbs de Provence and garlic paste rub, blistered green beans with shallots, lemon, and toasted almonds, mashed potatoes, gravy from roast drippings, cheese and garlic stuffing casserole, and sour cream cheesecake for dessert. My feet hurt from cooking all day- worth it
Big, Italian family lasagna bake.

We could use a hand, TX Paul. 😉
Had dinner at P.F. Chang’s with friends last night with gift exchange. Then Christmas Eve service. Tonight, my husband & I went to a burger joint for some wings! Casual and relaxing day today, remembering the birth of our savior.
Started with biscuits and sausage gravy along with fried potatoes mimosas included. Snacks in-between. We ended with roast, mashed potatoes and salad, followed by white chocolate raspberry bunt cake with cream cheese frosting.
We had a typical South African braai (somewhat like an American barbeque) with steak, sosaties, wors and lots of salads and unfortunately I did eat too much 😂
Spiral Ham with raisin sauce, MY Lasagna, candied sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans and peas, homemade bread, devilled eggs, buffalo chicken dip, homemade pumpkin pie and chocolate pudding pie. I feel like I'm gonna burst like roadkill on a hot August day.
lol. I don’t do it very often but it was requested this year bcuz I’m the only one that watched my mom and dad make all those dishes for 40 years. The pierogi were out of this world. 😋
Our family, sibs, kids & grands, had ham. Sibs each brought a side dish. I took a tossed salad & a broccoli slaw. One sibling brought mac & cheese, another brought peas & onions. One brought rolls & another brought desserts. The sixth sibling couldn't come. We all had 'enough' but not too much.
The cook is on a new low cholesterol diet so we're having salmon and roasted vegetables and fresh baked sourdough bread. Pumpkin pie for everyone else.
We did brunch with blueberry cheesecake French toast casserole, crescent roll sausage ring, fruit, bacon, and jumbo shrimp. Made Tito's bloody Marys and garnished with the shrimp & bacon. It was glorious!
Like most years, we did braised short ribs on Christmas Eve and will have the leftovers for dinner tonight. They're generally better on the second night.
Turkey, Ham and all the trimmings. We are on the west coast so just preparing for dinner. I am hoping to show some restraint as well. Merry Christmas 🎄
A traditional Danish dish with hound beef in a cram sauce, served over mashed potatoes. We add onions & mushrooms to it because we really like it that way. Roasted vegetables on the side, & fresh pineapple for dessert.
Did my first Beef Wellington.
And my last.
A lot of effort and time for something not quite as good as a well prepared Rib Roast.
Now I know and can move on!!
It is such a crap shoot. Ours this year featured under done pastry and over done beef. Still delicious but the perfectionist cooks (sister-in-law and I) were left a bit underwhelmed.
Know that feeling.
Thought everything was right till I cut it..slightly underdone tenderloin. Thing is..I found the whole thing to be a bit bland. Knew I should have messed with the duxelle..adding some worcestershire and some beef bullion for flavor.
Next time will stick to prime rib 😆
My wife made some bacon and cheese rolls I love for breakfast. Then she and my daughter left for family (I had to stay home for work) and I had Waffle House for lunch. And it was magnificent!
Sad to say our Christmas lunch consisted of ribs, brisket & sides. I missed my turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing . I plan to make that meal within the next week. Merry Christmas!
Beef tenderloin in the sous vide, and a Brussels sprouts salad w/bacon, feta cheese and craisens. Finished with a Goose Island barley wine aged in bourbon barrels with tamarind, lime, piloncillo and guajillo chile. Cheers!
I was curious about picnic ham so I looked it up. Seems to be what my mother always called Cottage Roll. (We're Canadian.) I haven't had that in decades! Merry Christmas to you from a northern neighbour.
I failed, made delicious tomato impossible meat and mushroom spaghetti sauce with spaghetti and 3 cheese ravioli and paired it perfectly with a buttery merlot, but ate WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH. I'm now watching The Agency, then Dexter, then Safe on Netflix, it's a great day.
Ham as well, with sweet potato and carrots roasted. I worked Xmas Eve, so I'm doing all the goodies starting today for the long weekend. I refuse to be constrained by arbitrary calendar rules. 😉
I got 1/2 a ham, so have leftovers & some to freeze & making The Senate bean soup with the bone on Saturday. Baked sweet potato & steamed green beans. No dessert.
Ham. Mashed potatoes, Steamed broccoli, garlic green beans. Meat & cheese tray. Adult kids brought cookies and candies. It was fun this year because the grandkids are all teens. One in her 20's brought my great-granddaughter. FUN!
Fam couldn't pick between Shepards Pie and Chicken Tortilla Soup, do daughter is making both. Just waiting for 21 and fiance to show up to eat. Me, I'm watching Red One for 2nd time.
Yes, it's the same process. At about 165 degrees, you wrap the roast until about 195/205 degrees. Brisket is a little better, but your bark flavor will go throughout the roast, especially if you spice the top and bottom.

Herbes de Provence on the turkey. Sneakret ingredient.
We wanted to do our traditional Merry Pho King Christmas, but the Pho King restaurant decided to not open on Christmas this year.
I'm hungry again...lol
It’s just the two of us, so a huge roast dinner seems unnecessary, although I roasted a chicken last weekend.
Enjoy the nibbles and sweets that show up later!
Have a great evening!
I had antenna TV on but was really too busy to watch..
Nos strovia

It's Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods in Oregon. White corn grits.
They grind all their grains. Flour, oats etc.
( I'm not a sponsor or affiliated with them, I just like their products.)
