Buy season passes that are affordable, esp for summer. Is there a local waterpark that has a summer pass for $100
That is your new playground for summer. Pack a lunch.
Local city sport sign up is often pretty cheap. Can't afford that, get a fee waiver (the kids never know).
DO buy the kids decent shoes....for school and cold weather.
DO sign up for library programs, and make it a weekly trip to get books.
Games like capture the flag, hide and go seek, kick the can, sardines, ghost in the graveyard, tunnel tag.
Dodgeball, kickball.
Etc.
And you don't need to buy a membership to play (only needed if you want to start a premium game yourself. But you're always free to join somebody else's premium started game for free).
Libraries have a lot more than just books.
Obviously I'm pro-book. But they've got movies, puzzles, board games, even sometimes musical instruments.
SHOUT OUT TO WHOEVER PICKED WATERSHIP DOWN THAT ONE WEEK YOU MONSTER
Don’t put it off. They need time to digest the info
We are not in any real danger of not being able to buy anything we need, but my kids are unreasonably used to being able to get anything they really really want in a few days, and that's just not going to happen anymore.
My kids especially all have ADHD and pandemic related anxiety disorders, so yeah, they always overreact to everything.
But I don't want it to come as a shock when they can't me like "I have 10 money can you order me this thing to get here next week?" doesn't happen.
Then again this generation of kids has had to deal with the reality of school shooting drills sooo I mean, they'll bounce. But fuuuuck. <3
I couldn't. I could not cope. You're a stronger person than I am.
(I highly recommend eBay for the kiddos with allowances)
