Also from the first paper. I still think about this section that basically says: "If artists/designers are going to make and want unrealistic ships that fly unrealistically, why bother simulating them at all?"
I'm pretty sure I've told you before, but for the peanut gallery, I think Elite made a lot of very smart decisions in the flight physics in terms of what to abstract. I still think it's one of the best feeling space sims to fly around in.
