One of my favorite types of post will always be someone being like “you seriously think this show is for kids? Then how do you explain this” followed by a clip of a show that aired on Disney Channel or Nickelodeon in which a character says the word die

It’s like the inverse of saying the stuff you liked as a kids sucks because you’re insecure about having liked it.

I think that's why people try to justify it being more adult.
*pokedex entry that says the word 'shoot'*
It would be used to show how addiction can lead to overdose without explicit visuals, but clear that overdoing something can result in consequences.
Both kid and adults can learn from that.

These Youtubers are the kinds of people who'd make Top 10 Naughtiest Jokes in ANIMANIACS or ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE if Top 10 Lists hadn't gone out of video vogue.
I grew up on Digimon & death happened all the time. There was several moments which had the kids grasp that they were killing living beings... & thats not even touching on the 3rd Season!
AND THEN THERE'S TAMERS--
I'm glad I got to enjoy AtLA and TCW as a kid, and they're still enjoyable today.

4kids: destroy
Kid horror books are a big thing and ppl die in them, but that doesn't stop them from being for kids!
and it fucking ruled
Fun thing is, Hasbro planned the same sort of thing for G.I. Joe, to clear out "old" characters, and bring in new ones. After seeing how many kids imploded emotionally over Prime, they put Duke in a "coma" for the movie.
There shouldn't be any shame in watching/reading/playing something made for less experienced people. Which is exactly what children are - people who lack experience.
I do think though that "this show isn't for kids" implies that the person hasn't read anything deeper on these topics at a higher level (cont)
I definitely wouldn't show Venture Bros. to a kid.
Okay explain this!
