Very impressive then! I would love to be able to shoot the milky way closer to the horizon, but I never seem to be in the right place or time for that.

Last year I went out 10 or so times trying to see the aurora based on alerts off an app, this night I was just so pleased to finally see it.

I'm curious whether you could see much with just your eyes? There have been some amazing light shows around here over the last year because of the sun activity, but I've never managed to get to see them personally. We have a bit of a hill to the North of us which must block them out.

Not usually. But my sister took some amazing pics this fall laying out on her balcony. After while she could see the colours with her naked eye. In Manitoba we would normally see just white and green and a bit of pink. The camera picks up more colour.

Flying from Svalbard to Tromso last year, the pilot dimmed the lights and said, "Look outside." The aurora was all around the plane. I was in an aisle seat. My window seatmate barely looked, didn't offer to let me look. A woman behind offered me her window seat to get a few bad photos with my phone
