First bird of my day: been out for an hour in the grey mizzle. Tawny owl hoots were replaced with Song thrush notes but no sight of a bird until a single crow flew through the grey, lifting the dawn. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

A weekend until this morning, of High Flying birds, Buzzards and two Kites on low aerial reconnaissance - but not this morning. Up most of the night and dawn brought -3 degrees and a flurry of White Wings, Gulls, Doves above, Blackbirds below. #Firstbirdoftheday
#FirstBirdOfMyDay was a beautiful Blackbird with his yellow bill in our front garden. Head cocked to one side listening for worms. Then off with a few two footed bounds until he stops again listening. Then, finally, he pulls a juicy worm from the earth. Wonderful!!!💚 #WhatsYours
Grey mizzle- yes! The lone herring gull cruising the rooftops looked much the same colour as the light grey felt of the sky. Just a gliding cut out shape. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
A piping blackbird that I awoke hearing 'tuning up' his gorgeous notes for 2025 was FBOMD 🐦⬛🎵 owing to the combination of mid-February earlier dawn, late night & relaxed Sunday timetable. (Thanks @dauphne.bsky.social for 'tuning up' - used by you in relation to red-winged bkackbirds - so apt! 🙏)
First bird of my day: it’s all about pairs! When I opened the curtains - 2 Blackbirds, 2 House Sparrows, 2 Woodpigeons, 2 Great Tits, 2 Blue Tits, 2 Magpies and 2 Goldfinches.
Letting the side down was a single Carrion Crow!🤣

A blackbird cackling at 5.30 after neighbours friends came back from the clubs and hammered on the door repeatedly. Just now close up redwings feeding through the lives surrounded by emerging crocus #FirstBirdofMyDay
Fine aria from Song Thushes with support from Robins, Chaffinches, Nuthatches and others in the chorus.
Percussion (and also the alarm clock Hannah) from the Woodpecker.
I’m still here in France and my first bird was a crow again. Second was a green woodpecker. There are so many birds here but it is tricky to see them because of the cover. 17 degrees and sunny here today. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
It’s a Common Gull riot on my street this morning - someone on the top floor is throwing out bread and there’s squawking, swooping, squealing and more 😹#FirstBirdOfMyDay
Inside all day until a visit to the city where the first bird sighted was a pigeon - and what a pigeon! Stunning grey black and white terrazzo patterned feathers as it paraded outside Brunetti’s in Lygon St. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
