Realized my tender scraping hasn't turned up anything in a week or more (including this). Now trying to fix it and getting a big reminder that Bids and Tenders is such a terrible site/service.
Tourists do tons of walking around that area, not just people who live within walking distance.
This won’t affect driving in the area in any way other than that the right hand turn will require you to wait for a green light. The same number of driving lanes are maintained on both streets.
This has happened to a lot of places in the city over the last few years. I'm sure some see it as progress, but I just see it as "keep your car out of my city"
This _might_ be doable with the Street Centrelines dataset. For example this Brunswick slip lane has FLAGS=TL where "TL" means "Turning Lane" according to the metadata
Nice! At a glance, this looks mostly correct. Some odd ones like the attached Bayers/Connaught lane (I think they mis-mapped the bus priority lane in this case), and also up in Devonshire (the 5 point intersection is goofy, afterall)
The city’s website was updated earlier this year to say they hoped to start construction April 2025, so I’m hoping it starts this year. Based on the timelines for Almon & Dutch Village it may finish next year though.
This is a common theme. Announce as a current year project (after being delayed 1-2years), release tender mid year, hope for the best. Over 50% of projects don't get completed until the following year.
Reallocating road space on Connaught would be really smart! As would getting rid of pretty much all the slip lanes in HRM, no need for pedestrian-endangering highway-style infrastructure on city streets.

It's getting harder and harder to visit from outside the city.
I miss going downtown, but it's a pain in the ass these last few years

What?!?!?!?!?!?! What city are you talking about???
That is how people from outside the downtown get there. Makes it harder to go
So people can walk around citidal hill without having to look both ways before crossing a road
Connaught is so ready for a road diet (and it is not alone!)
